The egg is the reflection of the cosmos. The yolk is the earth. The white symbolizes the clouds and the shell the heavens. The egg is a sacred object containing life/energy. Using simple natural materials, beeswax, candle flame, dyes and eggs, peasants would write their own destiny. Leaving a mark in the world captured in the spontaneous lines, symbols, and colors on the egg.

The pisanka is a pure authentic sacred story, a journey of my Polish ancestors. Peasants who lived by the sun, the moon, the elements, the seasons. Nature played a very vital part in their everyday lives and beliefs.

Written pisanki have a long history dating back to the old Slavic and pagan traditions of the 10th century. It is in the pre-dawn traditions that Christianity in her wisdom accepted and wove into her new faith the old world traditions. I carry on this tradition, transforming the natural elements of wind, water and fire into my Art.
